Vilas has over 20 years of experience in the global subsea cable industry. At Tata Communications, he drives strategic initiatives to expand international subsea infrastructure, develop high-capacity cable landing stations, and deliver resilient global connectivity solutions.
Vilas has managed complex cross-border infrastructure projects across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and other regions, working with global carriers, consortium partners, governments, and technology providers. Before joining the subsea business, he led Sourcing and Supply Chain for the media portfolio, where he drove network strategy for Tier-1 sports broadcasting, strengthened carrier partnerships, expanded global network capacity, and contributed to over 50% business growth.
His expertise spans subsea infrastructure strategy, network investments, commercial partnerships, and end-to-end project delivery. He is passionate about enabling the digital economy and advancing resilient infrastructure that supports cloud, AI, and next-generation connectivity through industry collaboration and innovation.
Vilas holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and a Master of Science in Management from the University of Liverpool, UK.
