Naaz started her career in the late 90s as an Events Coordinator in Bermuda for companies such as Gillette, Flag Telecom, and others, where she created industry-focused events. Following this, Naaz held various consulting and operational positions, such as Implementation Consultant at Klinkenberg Consultancy, Inventory Manager at Global Crossing Telecommunications, and Training Coordinator in the Equality and Diversity Department at the College of North West London. Naaz later worked as a Primary School Teacher and General Manager at Board Grip, a start-up she developed from concept to operations, before co-founding Bax Consulting in 2007. In her role as Vice President, Naaz provided consultation to telecommunications companies on planning, purchasing, constructing, and operationalising submarine cable systems, successfully delivering the SGSS system from Guyana to Suriname. As part of the Seaborn Networks team, Naaz was involved in developing the company’s brand and awareness within the industry. As Events Manager, she planned and managed the participation and scheduling of their various industry events, before being promoted to Head of Marketing – Events, and ultimately overall Head of Marketing. In this role, Naaz was responsible for all of Seaborn’s global industry conferences, events, and marketing, and leveraged her expertise to enable Seaborn to become a highly recognisable presence in the subsea industry. Naaz has since continued to expand and develop her marketing and events experience through roles that include Head of Marketing at EdgeUno and Director of Events for Connectbase. In 2021, Naaz became the Founder and CEO of Team Bax, Inc., specialising in collaborating with telecommunications companies for project and events consulting and short or longterm contracts that require specific expertise in the industry. In addition to her professional endeavours, Naaz is an active participant in the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) sphere, holding positions on various boards and councils. As a member of the Inclusion Hub and the SubOptic DIB Working Group, she collaborates to spearhead initiatives that attract a younger and more diverse demographic to the telecommunications and subsea community. In 2022, Naaz was appointed to the Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) Advisory Council. She was invited to join the PTC Beyond committee to help inspire the next generation of industry professionals to enter and advance in the telecoms field. Currently, she holds the position of Chair of the PTC Advisory Council and has also been named to the Board of the Women in World Trade New England organisation.
