Laurie Walker

Laurie Walker leads the Critical Undersea Infrastructure Coordination Cell at NATO Headquarters, in Brussels.

Prior to his current post, Laurie worked as Head of the NATO Press Office, and before that, as NATO Enlargement Coordinator, in which role he managed the accession of Finland and Sweden to the Alliance.

He has also previously worked at NATO on the Baltic Sea region, on partnership policy, on Afghanistan and Central Asia, Belarus and the Republic of Moldova, as the political officer for the Western European partners, and for the Western Balkans, as NATO’s Enlargement Coordinator for Montenegro and North Macedonia, and for the NATO Policy Planning Unit on the NATO 2030 initiative.

Before joining NATO’s International Staff in 2006, Laurie worked on EU enlargement for the UK government and on secondment to the European Commission.  He ran the UK’s Internal Market Unit during the 2005 UK Presidency of the EU. Laurie began his career in the private sector, in corporate finance for the Bayerische Hypotheken-und Wechsel-Bank.

Laurie holds an MSc in International Relations and studied at the universities of Oxford, Munich, Prague and Wales.
