Joe Paynter is a Submarine Cable Engineer in the Submarine Engineering team at Vodafone Group.  He collaborates on the technical planning of submarine cable builds and upgrades, ensuring alignment with Vodafone’s strategic goals and consortium obligations. His role spans coordination with marine and terrestrial suppliers, landing station parties, and regulatory bodies across all phases; from solution design and tendering to installation and commissioning. He also oversees the integration of submarine assets into Vodafone’s global transmission network and internal inventory systems.

Joe joined Vodafone Group in September 2022, after graduating from the University of Nottingham with a BSc in Computer Science.  With a strong foundation in network architecture, cloud engineering and automation, Joe brings a dynamic and solutions-driven approach to complex infrastructure projects.

Previously on the Vodafone Graduate Program, Joe contributed to Vodafone’s Cloud Engineering team, developing automation tools using Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, and Python to streamline operations across VMware environments, DNS management, and PKI certificate lifecycles. His work has consistently focused on operational efficiency, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.
