Greg Mersch
With over 35 years of communications infrastructure experience, Greg has founded and helped grow fibre companies across five European countries. Part of the founding team of Esat Telecom in Ireland which later sold to BT for over €1bn, Greg went on to help found Versatel Telecom NV, joining the executive team as President and COO. Operating across Holland, Belgium and Germany, Versatel established one of the region’s largest fibre-based infrastructures and was sold for over €2bn in 2002.
Greg founded the digital infrastructure challenger CityFibre in January 2011 and has led its transformation into the UK's largest independent wholesale fibre network. Under his leadership, the company has raised over £2bn in equity and £4.9bn in debt financing, completed seven acquisitions and is a leading delivery partner for the UK Government. CityFibre is targeting expansion to a third of the market, bringing the benefits of infrastructure competition to consumers, businesses, and the UK economy.
